The Umbrella Crew started with a simple idea — let's create something of our own.
It began with Oru Koda Katha, our first short film. We were starting from scratch, learning everything along the way, and figuring out how to turn an idea into something people could connect with.
We didn't know where that journey would take us. We just kept creating.
Our next short film, Paathirakallan, was made during COVID, when restrictions were part of everyday life. With limited resources and plenty of challenges, we still brought the entire film together and shot it in just 22 hours.
Then came a much bigger challenge.
CET on Strike.
What started as an ambitious idea became a feature film made entirely by college students and completely crowd-funded. We brought together a team of around 100 people across cast and crew, and eventually built a production worth around ₹15 lakhs.
